Star Wars: May the 4th Be With You

I am glad Star Wars still exists.  There are lots of Star Wars themed books available through DK publishing. Even if you aren't a fan of Star Wars, do give your children a chance to know about it as they may become interested in reading about this.
I am glad my children enjoy Star Wars, it is a lovely subject to read about. The level books are an important addition to the home library that will benefit beginning readers as they advance. These DK level books are the easiest to find for a reasonable price.  It starts at level 1 and builds up to level 4, which helps boost confidence and self-esteem in children while they read.
DK publishing also has You can draw Star Wars books.  This is a must for people who like visual arts and drawing.  I found the step-by-step instructions very useful to create the drawings.  The book gives all the techniques.  With patience and practice we can get professional comic-book artists results.  This book has all the basic and advanced information to learn this skill.  The fold out pages, trace overlays and comic book style stencils in the book are useful additions.  Children will learn to read and make their own comic books.
All Lego fans will love this Lego brickmaster from Star Wars. We can make 8 exclusive Lego models with more than 240 bricks and 2 figures. My children are young, so they needed help to make this Star Wars Lego AAT battle tank and Nu-class attack shuttle. They helped their Star Wars fan dad to find the pieces and follow the steps in the book. It is fun for anyone over the age of 7 to have this hands-on Star Wars experience to make these Lego models.  It will help children with procedural writing and fine motor skills.
This year Indigo, Chapters and DK publishing will be partnering to make a bigger impact to raise money for Indigo's Love of Reading program.  We can all participate and do our part to help make a literate society.
The money from the DK star wars books sold this weekend on May 4, 5 and 6th at all Chapters and Indigo stores nationwide will be donated to the Indigo's Love of Reading program.
This program helps get books into the schools.  It has already raised over $10 million dollars for more than 650 high-need elementary schools in Canada.
On May 4th, several Indigo and Chapters stores will have Star Wars themed parties sponsored by DK publishers. 501st Legion will have costumed Star Wars Characters in some locations.

There will be a photo contest, which will run during the month of May.  For all the pictures we send in of ourselves, our children/ family/ friends reading DK Star Wars books there will be a donation made on our behalf to the Love of Reading program.  The winning photo contestant will get a library of DK Star Wars books worth $200.
Make sure to follow DK Canada Facebook and use this twitter hashtag #DKMay4th while you are at the store events this weekend or want to send pictures for the contest via twitter/ instagram throughout May.

Literature changes the world so lets teach our children to read and become literate.

  1. Hey
    Great post thank you.
I have bought many DK Star Wars books for my son (a reluctant reader) and he has almost worn them out. I love the Katie Cook artwork on the May The 4th Poster too!
    Cheers
