Strawberry Shortcake: Jammin' With Cherry Jam and thumbprint cookies

Strawberry Shortcake: Jammin' With Cherry Jam DVD was out on September 11th.  Both my children like strawberry shortcake and enjoyed watching this lovely entertainer.

In this fun, new adventure of Jammin' with Cherry jam, Strawberry Shortcake's friends surprise her by inviting her favourite singer, Cherry Jam to perform at the grand opening of the Marketplace.  The girls didn't know that the real Cherry isn't like her rock diva persona, she is just a ordinary girl who wants to be accepted as one of their friends.

Here is a Cherry Jam inspired recipe to make easy cherry thumbprint cookies.
3 ¾ cups flour
1 1/3 cups softened butter
¾ cup sugar
¼ cup orange juice
1 egg yolk
cherry preserves

First, mix everything but the cherry preserves until well combined, then wrap the dough in plastic and refrigerate for one hour.
Preheat the oven to 375F, and use an ice cream scoop to place balls of chilled dough on to the cookie sheet.  Use your thumb to lightly press into each ball of dough to form an indent and bake for 10 minutes.
Remove the cookies from the oven and fill each indent with cherry preserves, then return the cookies to the oven and bake for another 5 minutes.
Cool on racks and enjoy.
